We are often asked if orthodontic braces can cause cavities.
Braces themselves don’t cause cavities, but poor oral hygiene while wearing them can!
To avoid unpleasant situations and additional treatments, we’ve prepared some tips for you to keep in mind. Don’t worry, they’re easy to follow!

• Use mouthwash;
• Brush your teeth more often, for 2-3 minutes — just make sure not to do it right after eating! You can use a manual or electric toothbrush, followed by an interdental brush;
• Use dental floss;
• Avoid sticky foods that contain a lot of sugar and acidic drinks, which negatively affect calcium and make teeth more susceptible to cavities.
• Have a professional cleaning (once every 6 months, depending on your needs).
